Porn555.com has overtaken once popular sites like xideos.com and pornhub.com to become the most visited porn site in Uganda, according to Alexa Internet, an American web traffic analysis firm.
One of the reasons porn555.com has generated a ton of visits from Ugandans is because it is not among the sites that were blocked by ISPs at the directive of UCC.
In 2017, UCC banned twenty-seven porn sites that were consumed by Ugandans. These included: xvideos.com, pornhub.com, xnxx.com, redtube.com. There were also local sites popular for marketing escort services and they included massagerepublic.com, cityoflove.com, escortsinkampala.com, exoticuganda.com, and escortsuganda.com.

Before this development, pornhub.com was the most visited porn site in Uganda, followed by xvideos.com.
Now, porn555.com, according to Alexa rankings, is the sixth most visited website in Uganda, beaten only by Google, YouTube, Facebook, Yahoo and Wikipedia.
Globally, porn555.com ranks at number thirty-five, and it is the fourth most visited website in India.
What government says
In a recent interview with Daily Monitor, Ethics Minister Simon Lokodo revealed that they had so far blocked thirty porn sites in Uganda and some of the people that are involved in distributing pornographic material were already facing the law.
He, however, acknowledge that were many porn sites on the web and with technology, people can always find ways to penetrate any walls put up to block access to prohibited content.
For instance, when porn was blocked, people started using VPNs, which could be the reason as to why some of the visits to porn sites from Uganda are no longer detected as Ugandan by Alexa.
“As far as I know, we have suspects being prosecuted in court over production of pornographic materials and information,” Lokodo told Daily Monitor.
“There are so many sites in the country and sometimes when you close some, others maneuver around the system and open more websites. Unlike before, we have also resolved that the committee starts visiting places where Ugandans, especially youth are suspected to be consuming porn materials from.”
