Bidding farewell to bundles that expire is the way to go! As part of its 19th birthday celebrations, Safaricom has introduced new bundles that do not have a validity period tagged to them. In simple terms, you can use them for as long as you want, without expiring.
The package includes data, calls and SMS bundles – all made available through the shortcode *544#.
However, the new offer does not put an end to the already existing subscription options. Subscribers can still choose between the expiring bundles and those that don’t expire.
The new plans further empowers customers with the freedom to purchase both talk time and data bundles for any amount, starting as low as KES 1. Customers can see how much data MBs, minutes and SMS they will get before completing the transaction.
Also, the company has plans to reorganize its shops across Kenya to provide a more personalized experience to customers.
This comes just after lawyer Adrian Kamotho went to court to get orders compelling Kenyan mobile network operators to stop the practice of expiring data bundles after a certain set period. It is indeed a burden within the customer scores and the need to have these scrapped is high.
Recently, the Ghana government also issued a directive to all telecom service providers in the country to stop the expiry of voice and data bundles purchased by consumers. In a letter dated October 9th 2019, telcos were tasked to roll over any unused bundles with the next recharge.
