The top two leading telecoms in Uganda, MTN and Airtel are just about to continue their dominance. This is after the country’s communications commission, UCC, granted each a new number range to accommodate more customers on the networks.
To this effect, MTN Uganda has been given 0760 as the new code in addition to its existing 077 and 078 codes. The telco is now issuing new customers on the MTN mobile Network with prefix range numbers 0760 000000 and 0760 999999.

Airtel Uganda, too, has been given 0740 as the new code in addition to its existing 075 and 070 codes. The telco is also now issuing new customers on the Airtel mobile Network with prefix range numbers 0740 000000 and 0740 999999.
Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) allowed both companies more room in the new number ranges after the exhaustion of their existing codes. These have been in use for over 20 years – at least for MTN.
According to the companies, the new and existing customers will now be able to select their preferred numbers from their customer service centers and various outlets in the new codes.
