According to a Uganda Communications Commission report, the fourth quarter of 2020 saw a total of 27 million registered smartphones in Uganda. The increasing smartphone adoption rate in Uganda can be attributed to a shift of Ugandans moving online as well as the introduction of affordable high-tech smartphone brands such as Infinix on the market. This is also reflected in the sales of mobile phones on Jumia, with the phones category accounting for 63% of the tech products sold on Jumia in 2019.
