The NITA-U Director for Planning, Research and Development, Dr Fredrick Kitoogo, has been selected to head the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) committee on the Makerere University Appointments Board.
Dr. Kitoogo, who holds a PhD in Computer Science, a MSc. in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Statistics, is expected to bring his much-needed experience to the university that is grappling with leadership challenges.
He also holds several professional certifications, including Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
Previously, Dr Fredrick Kitoogo worked as a Senior Programmer/Systems Analyst at the Uganda Revenue Authority and an IT Manager of the Judiciary.

The new Makerere University Appointments Board will be headed by Jolly Uzamukunda Karabaya, the Ministry of Education and Sports representative to the Makerere Council.
Also on the Appointments Board is lawyer Kiryowa Kiwanuka, the government Appointee to the council, Dr. Umar Kakumba, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Prof William Bazeyo, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration.
Assoc. Prof. Sarah Ssali will chair the committee in charge of Staff Development, welfare and retirement benefits. Dr. Helen Nambalirwa Nkabala was selected to head the Students Affairs Committee.
