Lyinoluwa or Lyin Aboyeji has stepped down as the chief executive officer of Flutterwave after leading the company for about 2 years.
Flutterwave creates products that enable global merchants, payment service providers, and Pan African banks to accept and process payments on any channel.
Lyin Aboyeji has resigned after the company recently ended a fundraising round that involved companies like Mastercard, CRE Ventures, Fintech Collective, 4DX Ventures, and Raba Capital, among others.
US $10 million was collected in that round. Flutterwave is said to have raised a total of $20m since its founding.
Aboyeji will be replaced by Olugbenga Agboola with whom he co-founded Flutterwave.
Worth noting is that Aboyeji is among the founders of the software recruiting and training company, Andela.
In his resignation letter, Lyin Aboyeji said he would now be giving more time to his family as he figures out the next move.
“Over the next few months as I figure out what is next, I’ll be catching up on sleep, spending time with my family and supporting and advising startups in our community (more to come on that) Everyone who knows me well knows what matters most to inc is my lifelong commitment to building the future of our country and our continent,” he wrote.
“As I take some time to rest and reflect on the incredible experiences I have had building two world-class African success stories at Andela and Flutterwave – I am excited about the opportunities the future of our continent holds and I remain dedicated to supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs who will go on to build the next Andela’s and Flutterwave’s.”
