African startups that are looking to raise money in the range of $250,000 (Shs923 million) and $5 million (Sh18.4 billion) have been called to apply and compete in the 2019 VC4A Venture Showcase – Series A.
The competition will be part of the Africa Early Stage Investor Summit slated for November 13 and 14 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Organizers say applications will close on July 31.
Only 10 innovative high-growth startups that are based in an African nation will qualify.
Other things that will put you in a better position to compete at the 2019 VC4A Venture Showcase are being a for-profit company that is registered and already generating revenue.
Your company should also be seeking to raise a Series A round in the aforesaid range and having an African co-founder.
Exceptions will be for startups that have “already received external investment, structured as either debt or equity, or received grants from donor organizations,” organizers say.
Process
When applications close, from Aug. 1 and Sep. 15, the selection process will kick off. Participants will be unveiled on Sep 15.
Then from Sep 15 – Nov 10, the selected startups will begin working on presentations with mentors as they warm up for the 2019 VC4A Venture Showcase on Nov 14.
There will be an innovation tour on Nov 15.
The benefits of participating in this program include an all-expenses-paid trip to Cape Town on Nov 10-16, 2019.
You’ll also get an opportunity for a 3-minute pitch in front of 300+ investors at the Africa Early Stage Investor Summit
