What is Uchaguzi?
Uchaguzi as a civic technology project, is a mobile and web based application designed to ease access to information on Uganda’s forthcoming 2021 general elections. It seeks to educate voters and sensitize citizens on the electoral process.
Through access to information, Uchaguzi will also bridge the citizen’s electoral knowledge gap, facilitate voter education and and improve voter participation, as well as provide a platform to engage with key constituents of the electoral process.
Key to note is that Uchaguzi is NOT affiliated with any politician, political party or political entity. The platform offers information on presidential and parliamentary elections, candidates and manifestos; how to vote; and the procedures to follow in the polling process.
Uchaguzi is a project of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance under the Government Citizen’s Interaction Centre (GCIC), in collaboration with the Uganda Electoral Commission. This project is supported by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Uganda & South Sudan.
