Uganda’s leading telemedicine and digital health provider, Rocket Health, has launched its second clinic in Gayaza located along Gayaza – Kalagi road. Rocket Health recently closed a Series A funding round which is facilitating an expansion into major towns and cities in Uganda.
The Rocket Health clinic in Gayaza is well positioned to deal with some of the challenges faced by the community in Gayaza and surrounding areas including high costs of access to medical care, high transport costs to health facilities, limited specialist services and equipment at health facilities, overcrowding and long lines at health facilities and unprofessional practices by health facilities among others.
The clinic is also a convenient and reliable option for many customers with medical insurance cover considering that many of the health facilities in this area favour cash payments and informal credit arrangements. The Rocket Health Clinic accepts cash, mobile money, and insurance payments for all services offered.
“It is such a relief to have a reputable health facility like Rocket Health open shop in my neighbourhood. Having the option of being tested from home and access to specialists like the dentist who is available every weekday here at this facility is super awesome,” said Mugerawa Isa, one of the first customers to be served at the Gayaza Clinic.
The clinic provides access to several specialists including a physician, pediatrician, dentist, physiotherapist, psychiatrist, plastic surgeon, and gynecologist among others. Rocket Health’s telemedicine model means that clients in Gayaza can now choose to be served either from the clinic or eliminate challenges like high transportation costs and long queues by activating the option of being served from wherever they are.
“The Rocket Health hub in Gayaza is the first of a chain of healthcare transformation centers we are setting up across Uganda and eventually across Africa. We are getting closer to our customers in order to serve them better, faster, and more conveniently. These hubs are designed to amplify the adoption of telemedicine and last-mile healthcare delivery to solve issues like long queues and time lost in transit in traditional healthcare. New additional walk-in services like imaging and dental will complete the end-to-end value chain of the Rocket Health solution,’’ says Dr. Davis Musinguzi, Chief Executive Officer, Rocket Health.
The launch of the Rocket Health Clinic in Gayaza is the beginning of an expansion campaign that also includes setting up a wholesale arm of the business to supply medical supplies and pharmacy products all over the country.
