The interesting aspect about subscribing to streaming services is the allowance for multiple users on one account. This gives you the best possible opportunity to save money on a monthly subscription each user could have paid. Spotify has unveiled a new Premium Duo plan for two people living in the same house.
Premium Duo allows two people to enjoy an ad-free streaming experience for less than the cost of two separate subscriptions. You basically part with $12.99 monthly subscription, which is a lot better than the $9.99 each could have paid.
However, you two (who are interesting in subscribing for the Premium Duo plan) have to live at the same home address. Each Duo member needs to log into their own account on their chosen device to listen. This means everyone gets their own playlists and saved music, and you don’t have to take turns or share login details.
Besides saving you the costs, Spotify offers Duo plan users a regularly updated playlist of music that each listens to.
How to join a Spotify Premium Duo plan
Ensure that you live with the person who started the plan.
The Duo plan’s manager has to send you an invite to join. They can do this by logging into their Duo Invite page. They can also check the address there.
To join the plan or open the invite, log into your own account or sign up for one. Enter the correct address. You can use location services if you’re at home, or enter it manually.
If you’re joining a Duo plan, all subsequent payments on your account are made by the plan’s manager. Any remaining Premium time you have is forfeited.
Duo Mix
Duo Mix is a playlist that combines the music you and the other member of your Duo plan listens to. It comes preloaded with genres, artists, and songs you’ve each played on your own, and updates the more you play.
The mix generates automatically based on your listening habits, so the more you use Spotify, the better and more varied it gets. Just keep listening to the songs you love! Your music doesn’t appear in Duo Mix until you join. If you leave, your songs are removed.
How to cancel or switch your Spotify Premium Duo plan
To cancel the plan, log in to your account page. Under Your plan, click change plan. Here you can either switch to another Premium plan, or choose cancel premium under Spotify Free.
In the event that you were invited to the plan but want to switch to a different one, you first need to choose cancel premium. You can sign up to any plan after that.
