The first quarter of 2020 has, by far, been marred by the coronavirus pandemic. Various industries are struggling to keep up in the wake of the outbreak. The smartphone industry is one of these.
Usually such a time is for announcing upcoming smartphones, releasing new flagship launches, and mentioning which cool features are available on the next release. But with most tech events highly sidelined by the virus spread and global lockdown to contain it, we have missed out on a lot.
But, none the less, smartphone sales have kept going on. In Q1 2020, we have seen 3 smartphone giants take the lead in smartphone sales. As Canalys reports, Apple, Xiaomi, and Samsung have had the top 10 smartphone sales in these first 3 months.
Apple has 3 iPhones on the list, all being under the iPhone 11 lineup; Samsung has 4 on the list; while Xiaomi has 3 with the best Android smartphone in Q1 2020 being the Redmi Note 8.
