Update: This event has been postponed to a yet to be announced date

Prime Minister of Uganda Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda will this Friday be the guest speaker at Innovation Showcase 2019, an event that is being organized by The Innovation Village and The CEO Summit.

Running under the theme “Bridging the gap: How public and Private sector can leverage innovation to solve pressing challenges”, the event will take place at The Innovation Village in Ntinda, Kampala from 8am-12pm.

The Innovation Showcase is a platform for thought-provoking discussions between the most influential entrepreneurs, investors and bankers and young entrepreneurs, start-ups and innovators to exchange ideas on how to transform Uganda through job creation and inclusive growth.

Consequently, the champions of the idea believe, the aforementioned will create a culture of coming together to harness brain power and experience for a deeper, and stronger ecosystem.

The event will feature exhibitions and speeches from notable entrepreneurs like Peter Kimbowa, the team leader CEO Summit Uganda; there will also be a panel discussion led by Japheth Kawanguzi, the founder of The Innovation Village and he’ll stimulate insights from David Bahati, the junior Finance Minister; Patrick Mweheirwe, CEO Stanbic Bank; and Mark Ocitti, CEO Uganda Breweries.

Another notable element of the Innovation Showcase is a pitch session that will see Allan Rwakatungu, founder Xente; Pannuel Mulongo, founder Oriem’s Cloud; Livingstone Mukasa, founder Four One Financial Services; and Julius Mujuni, founder Enventure present their ideas to investors who’ll attend.

In a joint statement, Kawanguzi was quoted saying: “As a country, we have reached an inflection point and the time to act is now.

“We, therefore, need to leverage the entrepreneurial mindset as a response because entrepreneurship isn’t just about starting companies; it is the capacity to take risks and willingness to fail forward, learn fast and persevere for the long term”.
