Morrison Rwakakamba lands job at US energy firm

Morrison Rwakakamba, a Harvard Kennedy School alumnus, is joining pay-go energy company Fenix International as a Global Senior Director of Policy.

Rwakakamba announced his appointment to the firm, based in San Fransisco, California — via Twitter.

“I have joined @fenixintl, a Company of @ENGIEgroup. As a Global Senior Director of Policy; I will be working with a needle moving rockstar team and governments to light up millions of homes, power businesses and make our planet cleaner, greener, healthier and sustainable,” he posted on January 6, 2019.

Fenix International, part of ENGIE, a French multinational electric utility company, is currently offering solar energy and financial services to people living in Zambia and Uganda.

On its websites, the company claims to have already served over 220,000 households and processed more than 5.7 million mobile power payments.

A former special presidential assistant on research and information, and head of the Government Citizen Interaction Centre (GCIC), Morrison Rwakakamba has been, until this development, serving as the Country Director for Bridge International Academies in Uganda.

Rwakakamba has also worked with the Uganda National Farmers Federation, Twaweza East Africa and the Uganda Chamber of Commerce.

A number of Ugandans, including Arinaitwe Rugyendo, a director at Red Pepper and ICT and National Guidance Minister Frank Tumwebaze, took to Twitter to congratulate Morrison Rwakakamba.
