How to set who can comment on your Facebook posts

Sometimes it is necessary to control the comments that come up on the posts you make on social media. Yes, some sensitive topics and actions can go viral but might arouse unwanted emotions from followers and friends. It is for the same reason that Instagram and Twitter have this control in play. Facebook has joined the queue too!

Already, Facebook lets you make a post public, visible to friends, just yourself, or a specific set of friends. With the new feature, you can control who can comment on your public post. It will specifically work for those that only want feedback from friends and family; or those that don’t want any response at all on the things they post.

How to set who can comment on your Facebook posts

Here’s how you can set the people that can comment on your public post:

  • Open the Facebook app on your phone.
  • Head to the post where you want to control comments.
  • Tap on the three-dot menu on the top-right of the post
  • Select the “Who can comment on your post?” option.
  • Then, select Public, Friends, or Profile and Pages that you mentioned.

Once you set this up, only the selected people or pages will be able to comment on your post. It also means strangers can’t comment on that specific post.
